Pitiful

25 May 2015 | by John Bailey (Texas) –I had high hopes for this, as I am a Texan who has a lot of respect for Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Bill Paxton. After the first half-hour watching this pitiful wandering, my first thought was, "How is it possible to take a story this compelling, and make it this bad?". I looked at the production credits....the director's last picture appears to be "The Scarlet Letter" in 1995. The lead executive producer was responsible for the classics "Clueless" and "The Brady Bunch Movie" Say no more. That the people behind this mini-series have no respect for the story is evident. I wish they hadn't bothered, and I'm sorry Paxton and Morgan had to hang this albatross around their necks. It is still possible to make good "westerns", ala Lonesome Dove, Tombstone, and even Silverado. Hell, even Blazing Saddles has more of a ring of authenticity. I don't know where to lay the blame for this debacle; writers, director, or producer. All I know is that they took a story that you can't screw up, and did just that.
